JRAC Chamber of Commerce Rotating Exhibit

The Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce rotating exhibit provides JRAC artist members an exclusive opportunity to showcase their best work in a 3-month long exhibit in JACC’s high-visibility location.

 

ELIGIBILITY: All current JRAC artist members in good standing.

METHOD OF SELECTION

Each exhibit will be curated for visual cohesion and dialogue of artwork, so work not accepted for this exhibit may be considered for a later time.

Submissions will be selected from digital image files by the exhibition committee.  Digital images will be assumed to accurately represent the artworks entered.  However, upon viewing the original artwork, the committee reserves the right to eliminate any work for any reason from the exhibition.  Any artwork that does not conform to the entry specifications as stated in the prospectus will not be included in the exhibition.

 

WORK ELIGIBLE

Up to five images per artist may be submitted for consideration in any of the following general categories: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Photography, Ceramics, Jewelry and Textiles.  JACC has requested work be appropriate for all audiences, so works of nudes should not be included.  All artworks must be original, and not previously shown at the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce.

 

SIZE RESTRICTIONS and PRESENTATION

All work accepted for the exhibition must be ready for display. For two-dimensional work, maximum size is 4 feet on any side including frame. Sculpture is limited to 50 lbs. with maximum dimensions of 5’ X 3’ and must fit through a standard single entry door.  NOTE: Cabinets  (12”x12”x9” deep) and some tabletop (16”x50”) display area will be available for smaller sculpture, clay pieces and jewelry.  Artists are encouraged to look at display area before submitting images.  All two-dimensional work must be ready for hanging, wire hangars only, (taut wire is best.)  All works that are fragile, made with delicate or high value media, must be suitably protected with plexiglass or glass.

 

PROCEDURE / ENTRY

Email images with one digital image file for each 2-D work entered, or two digital images for each 3-D work, with Submission Form to: pishkur-f@mssu.edu or rjreed@cableone.net Email is preferred. Digital images must be high quality JPEGs with a resolution of 72 dpi (maximum document size of 800 pixels/side) and file size no larger than 2 megabytes, label each file accordingly: Last name_entry number.

 

SALES / PATRON PURCHASES

All entries submitted must be available for purchase at the time of the exhibition. All prices, set by the artist at the time of entry will remain the sale price for the duration of the exhibit. Sales will be encouraged through patron, corporate, and individual purchases.  Artists will be solely responsible for transaction of all sales.  Contact sheets are posted with the exhibit for buyer contact of artists.

 

DELIVERY and RETURN of ACCEPTED ARTWORK

Accepted entries must be hand delivered to JRAC offices, time and date to be arranged after selection. Accepted entries may not be removed before the close of the exhibition.  Work will be available for pick up from the JRAC offices at date to be determined at close of exhibit.  No mailed deliveries will be accepted, nor will works be shipped for return.  Works remaining at JRAC office after 30 days become the property of JRAC.

 

PHOTOGRAPHY

JRAC & JACC reserve the right to photograph and reproduce, in color or black & white, all artworks accepted for the exhibition regardless of copyright. Photographs or digital images will be used for educational, and/or publicity purposes only.

 

LIABILITY

The JRAC committee and JACC staff will exercise professional care in handling all submissions, but cannot assume liability for loss or damage, however caused, while works are in the Exhibition committee or JACC’s possession or in transit. Accepted entries will not be insured while on exhibit.  It is suggested that artists wishing protection insure their entries independently.

 

AGREEMENT

The receipt of an entry for JRAC-JACC exhibit will be understood to imply agreement on the part of the entrant with all conditions set forth in this prospectus.
