The Pizza and Wine Think Tank was attended by 25 members. The suggestion for an event before our big fall events was to hold a fundraiser to support the fallen and injured Joplin Police Department officers.

The JPD fundraiser has been planned and advertised. Andrew Batcheller will contact the local Police Union to discuss how to notify the families of the affected officers. Angel Brame will send an email to members requesting details of donated pieces for display planning purposes. The board will provide refreshments for the Friday reception but ask that any participating members consider bringing a dish as well. Angel Brame will contact Marta Churchwell to see if a write up in the Globe is possible. A motion was made by Angel Brame to budget $100 for beverages for the event. The motion was seconded by Sandra Parrill. The motion passed unanimously.

The Gold Leaf Workshop was attended by 10 members and an overall success.

Future workshop ideas were presented. These suggestions included a watercolor class with Debbie Reed or Al Gritten as possible teachers. Andrew Batcheller will contact Debbie. Other suggestions were: Daria Claiborne/watercolor cards, Andrew Batcheller/stretching canvases, trip to Crystal Bridges, and Brenda Hayes/topic to be determined.

Angel Brame gave an update on the Plein Air Paint Workshop and Event scheduled in cooperation with Spiva. Workshop is 9/9/2022 from 9am to 4pm. The workshop will be taught by Larry DeGraff with a cost of $120 per student. The competition will be held on 9/10 and 9/11/2022 with a cost of $35 for non-members and $25 for members. Prize money: $500 1st, $300 2nd, and $200 3rd. Additional Purchase Awards will be available.

Daria Claiborne gave an update on this year’s Studio Tour. Brenda Hayes volunteered to be on the committee and assist with all promotional items. Daria would like additional members on the committee to assist with the workload of planning and executing. Any member willing to help should respond to the joplinrac@gmail.com address. Daria will reach out to Steve Doerr for guidance on PSA’s.

The Emerging Artist event is being planned for November at Spiva Center for the Arts but may need to be flexible on the location as Spiva is in the midst of a possible move to their new location in late fall. Crowder is a possible second location.

The meeting was declared adjourned at 7:0pm by Andrew Batcheller. The next meeting will be on May 10th at 6pm at Andrew’s studio.

Respectfully submitted,

Angel Brame, Secretary
