NEW BUSINESS

The annual general membership meeting was set for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21st, at the Joplin Public Library.  The agenda was set to include the year in review, a synopsis of activities tentatively planned for the coming year, and election of new board members. A motion was made by Sandra Parrill and seconded by Angel Brame to allow $50 in expenditures for refreshments. The motion was unanimously approved.

In discussion of a slate of new board members, Emily Rose reported that Andrew Batcheller has indicated an interest in rejoining the board. Several members were discussed as possibilities for positions and they are to be contacted for interest. It was noted that members who have an interest in serving are welcome to contact present board members or send an email to joplinrac@gmail.com. Positions now held by Marta Churchwell and Brenda Sears Hayes will expire. They are three-year positions.

Emily Rose announced that dates for Heart and Soul, the JRAC exhibit at artCentral, are set for Feb. 7-March 15 with the opening reception scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7. The drop-off date for artwork was set for 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at artCentral. Artists are to have information on their work submitted by Thursday, Jan. 2, by email.  Emily Rose is to contact a possible juror for the exhibit.

OLD BUSINESS

Angel Brame presented a new watercolor design for an updated organization brochure. A motion was made by Marta Churchwell and seconded by Sandra Parrill to have 500 of the brochures printed on paper like that used for present brochures. The motion was unanimously approved.

Marta Churchwell reported on the November JRAC Coffee Talk that drew four members who discussed the psychology of artists.

The pickup date for artwork in the ARTerior MOtives exhibit at Spiva was set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Spiva. It was noted that Spiva will be closed that week and this will be the only time to pick up work, making it imperative that artists make arrangements for someone to pick up their work if they cannot do so themselves.

It was reported that Daria Claiborne has handled details for JRAC to become an organization for buyers to designate for donations on Amazon Prime. A motion was made by Chadan Tomlin and seconded by Brenda Sears Hayes to complete the procedures necessary for such designation. The motion was unanimously approved.

Next meeting of the board will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Joplin Public Library.
