I have been intrigued for some time with the idea of alternate realities. My abstract paintings explore depictions of energy manifesting into various forms. Three-dimensional pieces include found and re-purposed items with interesting textures and shapes

My work is an exploration of the sacred. I gravitate to earth-based spirituality and ecofeminism. I primarily work in watercolor, ink, and other water-based media, often utilizing subject matter that embodies the transitory complexity of nature, the duality of growth and decay, and the connection between women and the natural world. The symbolism and content in my work are heavily informed by motherhood, my religious upbringing, and immersive spiritual experiences. Through my art practice, I seek to manifest an alternative way of thinking about the power structures within which we live. I hope to contribute to the shifting of common social paradigms by challenging institutions and ideas that provide the script for our widely embraced, unexamined, and often destructive belief systems.

Bio - Liz Darling is a visual artist from Kansas. Deliberate and intricate, Darling uses watercolor, ink, and other water-based media to create cosmic, organic compositions that often center on themes of spirituality, transience, the divine feminine, and the natural world.

Joplin artist Nancy Erwin immortalizes long-gone area landmarks by painting their "portraits" based on vintage photographs. Not only do these works preserve memories, they also document a way of life that we'll never see again. Born and raised in Joplin, Nancy has been a part of the changes from the 50's era of Joplin to present day. Her love for the landmarks that immortalize this beautiful city are captured on canvas for generations to enjoy.

I have loved art since I was a small child. As far back as I can remember, I was always doing something “artsy”. Over the years, I have enjoyed many different mediums, including: Calligraphy, quilt making and fabric arts, repurposing furniture, mixed media and recently, painting. My style comes from the “little girl within me and my goal is simply to make people happy! If my artwork makes you smile, then I’ve succeeded in what I set out to do!

My works are meditations on the question of ruin or redemption presented by derelict architecture, and the cyclical transience evident in all living entities, whether flora, fauna, or human form.

Shari paints with an impressionistic palette and uses heavy texturing and dramatic colors.  She loves the depth and uniqueness the texture gives.  Her presentations range from abstract to realism. Favorite creations are mixed media on hard boards to include crackle paste and bark paper.  Shari prefers palette knife and hand painting techniques to create “one of a kind” artworks.

Bio:

My name is Janiece Siebert.  I was raised on a farm in Diamond, Missouri but have lived in Carthage with my family for nearly 30 years.  I first discovered my passion for art when I was in high school, but I took a break from that to raise five wonderful children.  I recently began painting again and have rediscovered my love of oil and acrylics.  I enjoy painting landscapes, but I especially like to paint scenes from places that I have been.  I love to recreate the memory of a place from my childhood, or from raising my children, by using certain colors to portray those emotions.

I was seven years old when I got my first pony and from that moment on my world revolved around horses. To me, horses have always been the supermodels of the animal kingdom. Even the oldest and most infirm among possess an inherent beauty, and it is this grace and courage that attempt to portray in my work.
