Bio:
Angelica Abshire has always been intrigued by photography, but it wasn’t until she was diagnosed with Autism as an adult that she realized she could use her craft to share her unique vision of the world.
Her connection to art, and especially photography, has become a huge part of who she is. She says, “My photography is a way to communicate to those who don’t always see beyond the big picture.”
Her work focuses on architectural details, especially geometric shapes, but she also loves to work in natural settings, juxtaposing the manmade with the wild.
Her photos have appeared in local and international exhibitions, online and in print journals, and in galleries such as the Spiva Arts Center in Joplin, Mo.
In addition to photography, Angelica works with letterpress and is a bookbinder. She volunteers for the Pittsburg Arts Council (Kan.) and Women Helping Women: A Fairy Godmother’s Fund, where she uses her graphic arts and design skills to support her community. She is the mother of two teenage girls. She and her husband also have three dogs, several reptiles, and a hedgehog. They live in an oak woods on the edge of a meadow.
Bio: I grew up in the Pacific Northwest where I developed my love of nature, which is often featured in my creations. As a child, I watched my grandfather cut and polish semi precious stones that they often dug up themselves. I took up beading as a way to heal. Bead weaving, netting, and stringing keep me busy. I've done several custom wedding sets and look forward to doing more custom projects.

I have been intrigued for some time with the idea of alternate realities. My abstract paintings explore depictions of energy manifesting into various forms. Three-dimensional pieces include found and re-purposed items with interesting textures and shapes
Ashley Brown, artist and ceramicist, based in Southwest Missouri. Primarily works with Ceramics, creating both functional and sculptural art pieces. Much of her work is inspired by her spiritual beliefs, nature, and the material itself. Ceramics as a medium is very tactile and she enjoys creating pieces that highlight this aspect and invite the viewer to interact with her art in a more literal sense.

As an artist, my craft has evolved and changed over time. The past couple of years my clay pieces have become a canvas of sort. I discovered the love of "sgraffito" which is Italian for scratching the surface. I'm always amazed when I scratch away the underglaze from the surface of a piece revealing the clay below. I'm drawn to the positive and negative spaces I can create. It's nice to discover your gift, but the real joy comes in sharing it.

As an artist, I am attracted to movement with color. Water especially, the shimmering reflections in the water can obtain my full attention on the canvas or during observation. I relish on capturing that moment that is rarely seen, showing the beauty of a frozen moment.
Statement:
Being immersed in the intersection of art and nature is a foundational part of my spiritual practice. Creating art, for me, is not just a process of meticulous energy and intention; it is a meditative act and a form of resistance against consumer culture and the pervasive attention economy. I create using a variety of media - primarily watercolor and ink, but also oil, embroidery, collage, and digital media. In my work, I venerate the natural world as a sacred force and celebrate the life-giving power of the female body. Much of the recurring symbolism I use has been inspired by personal life events - the power of pregnancy and birth, psychedelic experiences, growing up within patriarchal religion, and joyful, formative childhood memories. Through the process of engaging in creative work, I seek to explore beauty and interconnectedness while questioning established belief systems and societal norms that often go unexamined
Bio:
Liz Darling is a visual artist from Kansas known for illustrative, organic paintings that often feature fungi, lunar imagery, and the female body. With a precise, organized approach and an emphasis on process and exploration, Liz uses watercolor, ink, and various other media to engage the intersection of magic, nature, the divine feminine, and the inner child

I am from a small farming community in Clay Center, Nebraska with a population of about 800 people. I first picked up a paintbrush 30 years ago when my two daughters were very young and being a stay at home Mom, I began looking for a way to make a little extra money. I tried everything from painting on river rocks to painting on old windows. Later I started painting and wood burning on gourds, then adding pine needles to the rims. I still paint around 100 real pumpkins in the fall, attend the occasional art show, and belong to farmer's markets in two nearby cities.

I love the surprises and beauty that are found in the grain that comes forth when you start working with wood. God in His ultimate wisdom has chosen to cover the beauty of the wood with bark and leaves, but has allowed us to reveal His art and beauty through the gifts and talents He has given us. My goal as a wood turner is to bring to life God’s beautiful art work, so others may see His work

I have loved art since I was a small child. As far back as I can remember, I was always doing something “artsy”. Over the years, I have enjoyed many different mediums, including: Calligraphy, quilt making and fabric arts, repurposing furniture, mixed media and recently, painting. My style comes from the “little girl within me and my goal is simply to make people happy! If my artwork makes you smile, then I’ve succeeded in what I set out to do!

I have always loved art, and studied art in high school and college. Since 1985 I’ve owned & operated an Ad Agency. In all those years, I have designed logos, written jingles, created countless TV and radio commercials and hundreds of videos, but my true love is photography and painting! I have recently begun rediscovering those two mediums. The “little kid” in me who always wanted to be an artist is now doing so. The best part - is doing it with my wonderful wife, Cindy, also an artist!

Splitting my days of childhood between the North shores of Minnesota and hiking through the Rockies, it's safe to say I spent most of my time outdoors. It created a passion for the wilderness and a curiosity in American History. There was always pebbles in my pocket and a pencil or paintbrush in my hand. That hasn't changed in adulthood.
A longing to share what makes my heart sing. On paper, canvas and even on the human body. I'm never more at peace than when I am creating.

Bio: My name is Vicki Lazure, a recently retired Registered Nurse, (RN) of 28 years. I started painting at 58 after stumbling onto a Bob Ross program. I followed along that day and absolutely loved it! Hundreds of paintings later, I’ve had some failures and some successes and am still amazed I can paint at all. When I turned 60, I decided to try my hand at woodworking and found another craft I love. I now enjoy the combination of painting and woodcrafting and combine the two when possible. I live in Neosho, MO. and have been married for 32 years with 5 children and 5 grandchildren.

Nature has always drawn me in because of its innate beauty found both in its order and chaos. It is ever changing with unending variety and always surprising. When photographing I strive to capture this beauty that so often has a story to tell in ways that the casual observer may never see. I also feel that nature art is healing and it has been documented that it in truth does. I have received great response from my work in the medical and commercial environments as well as homes.

Bio: Jesse was born in Carthage, Missouri. Many of his paintings and drawings are in private collections. Some have won prizes and awards in competition. He studied Engineering, Music, Psychology, Writing, and Art. He enjoys working in the Tri-State area for its many talented personable artists and art enthusiasts. He is a charter member of Local Color Art Gallery and Studio in Joplin, Mo and teaches “Memories in the Making” classes for the Alzheimer’s Association at Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin.
His vision emphasizes people, animals, rocks, trees and water; sometimes architecture. These become interacting symbols of abstract thought and emotions. Light as color and contrast are important like the sun giving light and reflecting off the subject matter. Often the light simply comes from within.
“I move my inner vision out where others may see it and it may remain for a while. I paint people, nature, and light. I convert what seems to be chaos into a visionary experience. The magic of painting makes imagination visible.”

I started in pottery but found I don't like to get dirty. When I was introduced to glass I found my home and my people, as they say. My belief has always been to Live Pretty and with glass one can do exactly that... there is nothing more beautiful than colored glass.
I am a mosaic, polymer clay, and fused glass (warm glass/kiln-formed glass) artist. My interest in the first two mediums began in 2006, with fused glass starting in 2011 and has since become my favorite. I am a retiree of three-years and recently built my retirement home in Carthage, along with a new mosaic/glass studio above my garage. My business name is Imagine More Mosaics and Glass.

Debbie Reed, born in Lubbock, Texas, has made Joplin her home since 1979. After receiving her R.N., B.S.N. from the University of Nebraska, she obtained a second degree in studio art from Missouri Southern State University. With 20 years of painting experience under her belt, Debbie opened Mosaics Art Gallery, at 20th and Indiana, Joplin. I feel so blessed to be able to spend this portion of my life dedicated to creating art. A love of painting has always dominated her life, and in her work
I like to draw, paint and scupt. But I really like to photograph. I love photographing textures and shapes and how light affects scenes, sometimes from a little different perspective, to make images new and fresh.
Romans 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

A rockhound and nature lover at heart, I’ve always found myself fascinated by the intricate details of nature. I absolutely love exploring the hills, streams, woods, and caves of the Ozark Plateau, where I’ve lived my whole life.
I’m often bringing home various nature-found treasures from these excursions; flowers, leaves, seeds, fungi, sandstone, fossils… anything with a lovely texture that captures my intrigue.
These items are the inspiration and foundation for each of my jewelry pieces. I use them to form one-of-a-kind molds to add natural impressions to each of my unique jewelry pieces. My own fingerprints and maker stamp can be found on the back of many of these pieces, serving as my own one-of-a-kind signature.
My hope is that the wearer feels a bit of the awe and wonder that I myself have found in these Ozark hills.

Artist statement: I am new to calling myself an artist. I’ve been painting for just under a year now. I am a teacher by trade, so I’m used to trying new things, reflecting, and changing. All things that I do with my art. I use acrylic paints to pour abstract pieces that reveal something different to each eye that looks upon it. In addition to paint pouring on canvas, I also pour on vases, ornaments, and anything I can get my hands on. I use my leftover paint skins to make jewelry, bookmarks, and other like items. I have also found a passion in creating small items with resin, such as custom dominos. I think what I love most about my art is that no two pieces are alike.

I am currently working out of Art Forms Gallery in Pittsburg Kansas
I started painting at the end of 2019. This is a new journey for me and one that I have looked forward to for many years. I see where the culmination of life experiences has given me the knowledge and expertise that I need for this venture. I love learning new things and sharing with others what I have learned. I want to create art that will bring joy to those who ponder the paintings. I would like to also make pieces that cause people to think. For me art has been a good therapy, one that brings me great joy.
