The meeting of the JRAC board was called to order at 6:02 by President Andrew Batcheller.

Minutes Approval: Minutes approved via email prior to meeting and disbursed to members.

Brenda Hayes presented a Treasurer’s report that showed a beginning balance of $8,194.55. Ending balance after membership dues and disbursements result in a balance of $7,933.02 in the bank account. Treasurer’s Report Approval: A motion was made by Sandra Parrill to accept the report and was seconded by Andrew Batcheller. The motion was unanimously approved.

Daria Claiborne provided a final report on the Studio Tour. The event was considered an overall success. Saturday was busier than Sunday for most locations. Forty-four signature cards were returned and donated pieces have been distributed to the winners. Several winners have won in previous years as a sign that people are returning to the tour year after year.

Daria Claiborne questioned if JRAC possesses a sales tax exemption certificate. If any previous board member is aware of the existence, please contact Daria or joplinrac@gmail.com. Emily Rose volunteered to research what it would take for JRAC to obtain a certificate if we don’t already have one.

“The Eyes Have It” had a fantastic turnout at the reception with at least 60 people in attendance.

  • 1st place: Emily Rose

  • 2nd place: Ginger Copeland

  • 3rd place: Kurt Penland

  • Honorable Mentions: Jesse McCormick, Amber Mintert, Jade Henning

  • Best Adherence to Theme: Steve Head

Emerging Artist exhibit is hung and ready for viewing after the opening reception at Spiva. Judging will happen this week. For future Emerging Artist events that JRAC might host, a questionnaire will be supplied to artists to further verify that “emerging” qualifications are truly met by participants.

The next Think Tank will be at Daria Claiborne’s with a topic of how to get started in ceramics. A date and time will be confirmed as soon as possible.

It is time again for recruiting board members for the next term. Two current members’ terms will be up in 2023. Anyone interested in volunteering on the board can email joplinrac@gmail.com. Angel Brame will send an email to membership with a request for anyone interested to respond.

The Annual Meeting is approaching. Current plan is to have it at Spiva in January. Andrew Batcheller and Emily Rose will confirm the location. Emily Rose has started the powerpoint presentation. Brenda Hayes will create a FB event. Angel Brame will take minutes at the meeting and other chores will be assigned at the next board meeting.

The meeting was declared adjourned at 6:53pm by Andrew Batcheller. The next meeting will be on December 13th at 6pm at Andrew’s studio.

Respectfully submitted,

Angel Brame, Secretary
